2009 was a very special year for the University of Cambridge as they have celebrated 800 years since their foundation. The 800th Anniversary has been commemorated in a wide variety of public and private events throughout the year, and January 2010 brought the 12 month celebrations to a memorable close.
Exactly twelve months from the start of the Anniversary Year, when more than 10,000 people crowded into central Cambridge to witness a spectacular light show on the Senate House and Old Schools, light once again told the University’s story in this year’s lightshow where 20,000 people enjoyed the show. Last year’s show focused on Cambridge’s illustrious history, this year’s show focused on the transformative research taking place at Cambridge.
The University of Cambridge chose to work with Redback Design to produce their 800th anniversary theme and publications. Redback created the world recognised Octo and throughout this milestone celebration has produced a wide range of materials including brochures, programmes, adverts and posters. For this final celebration, Redback produced a stunning programme guide to accompany and explain the lightshow images. The Redback team are delighted and honored to have been invited to join the private celebrations with the university members and look forward to working further with the university on new projects.
